East Lothian is
an area of great beauty and varying
landscapes from the rolling Lammermuir Hills to the
wonderful coastline with its mixture of sandy beaches
and cliffs. There is something for everyone including
castles, museums and excellent leisure facilities.
There are numerous
easily accessible visitor attractions
including the Scottish Seabird Centre, Museum of Flight,
Mining Museum, and Edinburgh is aproximately 22 miles
about a 30 minute train journey from North Berwick.
The area is also
famous for its golf, the game was
invented a few miles away at Gullane, and there are
a number of championship courses in the area
including Muirfield, North Berwick, and Whitekirk
amongst many others. The area is ideal for exploring
by walkers and cyclers, many families enjoying our
private roads around the farm.
My Sister-in-Law
runs a riding establishment a mile
from Scoughall with woodland and beach rides being
her speciality. Rides can be arranged for all levels of
experience by prior appointment.
The beach at Scoughall
is private and is mainly sandy with
rock pools, the beach adjoins the John Muir Country Park.
You can bring your
own horse/pony to Scoughall by prior
arrangement, as we have stabling and grazing available. The
area is good for riding and carriage driving. Please telephone to discuss
availability and price.
